There are only three rules because all the research I read said that students would not remember more than five rules at a time. The first rule covers all general classroom behavior and what students should be doing to keep them on task. The second rule addresses bullying and physical violence and the third rule is to remind students that they are expected to give their full attention and try their best at all times. I will present these rules to the class in the form of a poster; they will also recieve a copy like the document below, which serves as a contract with them. They will be told in this contract that I promise to teach them successfully in all subject we attempt and they promise to follow these rules.
